Local and Licensed New York HVAC Companies – Free Estimates Fast!
With the changing New York seasons, you’ll want to make sure your air conditioning is in tip top shape. Global warming aside, New York can be a very hot and uncomfortable place with the temperature regularly reaching 90 degrees or higher in the summer. Before it gets unbearably hot, you should have your HVAC system serviced by a licensed technician.
On April 2, 2010, the New York State Building Code Council approved a number of new rules to help improve building safety and promote energy conservation. To be in compliance with the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and qualify for millions of dollars in Federal Stimulus programs, new codes must be followed. New York has taken a national leadership position in the energy efficiency of new and renovated homes and other buildings. The new codes also follow the suggestions of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) for promoting safe and more efficient heating and cooling practices.
Contractors will be required to meet minimum energy efficiency standards and this will lead to smaller, better designed systems that will heat or cool your home using less energy than older systems. One specific area the new codes addressed is the loss of cooled or heated air through the attic. The new code allows for the construction of “conditioned attics”. Unlike the traditional, vented attic, a conditioned attic will help keep cool air from leaking out of the house in the summer and warm air from escaping in the winter.
Taking care of your heating and cooling system will not only keep you more comfortable the year round, but, it may also lower your monthly electric bill.
